Anycast is a network technique in which the same IP address corresponds to multiple hosts. The network then chooses only one address to which to send the user’s request, depending on cost and the “state” of the server.
In addition to speed, the Anycast network guarantees full availability of its protection services: if it detects an overloaded server, it sends the request to the next nearest node. Since no client configuration is required, all this happens in fractions of a second.
Another advantage concerns ease of management, because the need to configure several DNS servers is avoided, instead having a single IP address, configured at each location.
